Vocalist Rhys G Bradley possesses the most glorious guttural growl since Kurt Cobain shredded this larynx for our listening pleasure.
The band write amazing, hook-laden rock songs that you'll find rumbling around your head days after your last To The Bones fix.
Having released a split single through Org Records at the start of 2008, To The Bones signed up with new label Medici Records in May.
In July, the band released a double A-side made up of the scuzzed-up fuzzed-out melody of Sonic Mammoth and the terrifying aural assault of Sharkie's Bone Symphony.
They received airplay from Zane Lowe and Bruce Dickinson at the BBC and were invited to record an Xfm session for John Kennedy.
The NME, Rock Sound and The Fly have all been lavishing praise on what it is a fearsome new force in rock.
Having heard about the building buzz, producer Dave Eringa (Manics, Idlewild, Ash) offered his services to the band for free.
In 24 hours, the band recorded and mixed their second Medici Records single.
Entitled Rex it's a hypnotic, mesmerising blend of crushing riffs and tribal, chanted melody.
'To The Bones move with the force and efficiency of a machine. They make one hell of a racket, but it's nearly always melodic, the songs brutally concise' - The Guardian

While its focus remains indie rock, the 2009 line-up promises to be an eclectic mix.

Monday is something of a 'chill out day' for the festival, with the venues featuring a range of blues, unplugged and acoustic slots from the likes of Gary Potter, Snakey Jake and Ryan Whitmore.
A Volume spokesman said: "While the festival is focused on showcasing new music, we do hope that there is something in this year's line-up for everyone.
"We've been using the slogan 'never mind the credit crunch', certainly not to belittle the difficult times that many people are going through, but just to say while things are hard at the moment, at least people can come along and enjoy scores of live bands for free.
"Because of our fantastic sponsors we have been able to make 90% of the festival totally free. And where there is a charge, we have kept it to an absolute minimum.

Re-Lay to the people - Update: Friday April 24
MAIN sponsors Asphalt Re-lay have been covering our recent joint promo gig in Crewe Town Centre.
Here's their report.
As reported in numerous local press outlets in recent days Asphalt Re-lay took its Asphalt Recycling System and its Pothole Campaign to the people of Crewe on Saturday April 18th 2009.
As part of the promotion of the Volume Festival sponsored by Asphalt Re-lay, the organizers are doing numerous free shows in the centre of local towns in the area in order to raise awareness of the festival taking place on May 21st-25th - showcasing some of the bands involved.
So as main sponsors, Asphalt Re-lay provided some support by going along to help setup the stage area, provides banners and posters, and also to show residents our Asphalt Repair System and talk to them about our Pothole Campaign.
We were inundated with people wanting to take a copy of our literature, give us their pothole nightmare stories, and to arrange free no obligation assessments of their grounds and driveways.
We generated a lot of support for our campaign and helped to convey the message that the local authority is not totally to blame for the state of the roads as they can only work within the budget given to them, and we hope to use the support of the people to make this point at government level with one strong voice, as well promote our method as a more efficient use of those limited budgets as our repairs are permanent, cost effective, and the most environmentally friendly.
Keep an eye out for us in your local area as we spread the word about our mission to help rid our roads of those frustrating potholes!
